In the near future, the Traffic Police will be responsible for managing, operating, and using data from vehicle journey monitoring systems and driver image recording devices to ensure traffic order and safety, as well as to handle violations.
On the evening of January 4, a representative of the Traffic Police Department (under the Ministry of Public Security) stated that from January 1, the Traffic Police has been assigned the task of managing, operating, and utilizing the data management system of journey monitoring devices and driver image recording equipment.
According to the representative, this directive is based on the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, Government Decree No. 151/2024/NĐ-CP, and Circular No. 71/2024/TT-BCA issued by the Ministry of Public Security.
According to regulations, journey monitoring devices must be installed on transport business vehicles, tractor-trailers, ambulances, and road traffic rescue vehicles. Meanwhile, driver image recording devices must be installed on transport business vehicles with 8 seats or more (excluding the driver’s seat), tractor-trailers, ambulances, and road traffic rescue vehicles.
This initiative aims to support the assurance of road traffic security, order, and safety, to handle violations, and to improve state management of road transport.
The Traffic Police Department representative also noted that while the Traffic Police will manage the data, it will be connected to and shared with the Ministry of Transport, provincial and municipal Departments of Transport, and other relevant agencies in accordance with legal regulations.
The Traffic Police Department has requested units and service providers transmitting data from journey monitoring devices and driver image recording devices to cooperate in connecting, integrating, testing, and transmitting this data to the Traffic Police Department.
According to the representative, the department has assigned a technical team to guide units in registering for pilot integration and data transmission testing, which must be completed by January 25.
